History

It was in 1957 that the original Jake’s Spin-A-Lure was created by Arnold Jacobson. At the time, Arnold was a sheet metal and air conditioning contractor in Sheridan, Wyoming who merely enjoyed making things on the side. When he initially developed the lure, he had no intention of selling it. However, impressed by the casting performance of the lure in the waters of the Big Horn Mountains, he decided to sell his sample to the locals. The rest is history.

Word-of-mouth and a loyal customer base has kept the family owned business a competitive player in the fishing lure industry for 50 years. Still based in Sheridan, Wyoming, the business is currently owned and operated by Arnold’s family. Jake’s Lures are distributed throughout the United States and remain the #1 lure in Yellowstone National Park.
